These are just stock motor mounts with the rubber inserts pressed out. My uncle will be turning solid round stock for a light press then I will fully weld them. I will keep progress pics up just for those of u who are curious.

I guess you like the feeling of being in a first Gen......

rattle rattle rattle

i did a set for a 3.0 truck my buddy has, aluminum with a steel insert for the bolt, works great brandon

i've asked this before, isn't there anyone making poly mounts? I don't like the idea of solid mounts on anything other then full race which in this case I think Brandon's truck is! At the same time the stock motor mounts, atleast for those making lots of power pulling or drag racing, would seem to be not enough to me.

Just get some UMHW and turn it and press them in. Probably should make a steel insert in them.

how much abuse is a solid mount going to put on the frame?

my motor moves all over the place, but im not sure i need to hear any more noise LOL

look in the diesel power energy suspension just came out with a set of poly bushings i beleive.

Cool deal!

It's not the frame i'd be worried about so much as the engine. Yes I know the cummins are stout pieces of iron but industructible, not so much! Any time you place the load on the motor via solid mounts you better have the stiffest of stiffest frames or you're asking for trouble.

the frames pretty beef on my truck being 2wd, the crossmember is HUGE and welded in for the IFS, im not sure about the 4wd's.

Id probably be looking into some other mounts for the block.

can you give me a rough size of the hole in the mount, gotta be around 3" right?

this is a pic of motor mounts a company makes for the jeep 4.0, notice the bolt holes, the stock cast brackets had 2 or 3

Good point. I can see how it might put a lot of stress on the block if the frame is twisting.

If your going solid why not make motor plates for the front and rear . That way there is no stress on the sides of the block.

I called Energy today they said within 3-4 weeks they will be out and the price he gave me was awsome so I will X this build and run factory mounts with limit straps untill I can get the poly replacements.

Brandon

What was the price?

Roughly $60 u will have to do like I did and press the rubber sections out then put the new poly section in.

Go to Grainger (or somewhere else similar) and get some Devcon Flexane 80 urethane to fill your stock mounts.

I haven't done any Cummins mounts with it, but I've used the stuff on quite a few different mounts over the years.

97' CTD, how come are you even bothering machining inserts for the stock mounts? I would think it would be just as easy or easier to just make completely fabricated mounts as it would to make the inserts...
