My truck is still throwing the code P PCU P1693 and this code only? It only does it at (WOT), with the motor now breaking up very badly!

I was told this is just a companion code for stacking chips. But i beg to differ. My truck has thrown this code for a very long time. I also know of another truck throw this 1693 code and it is breakingup on top end also. However that truck runs like crap.

Come on someone has to know whats up with this 1693 code.

Just a companion code that you'll get with putting chips in these 24v's

i just got the same code last night, yes my truck was breaking up on the top end too, iam goin to clear it an see what happens

The code was thrown while no chips were hooked up? Did some more hard driving, now the truck seems to go til 2700 completely shut fuel off until 2000 then comes back on hard. but this time no code was thrown.

So i hooked up the redline and it will still do the same, but then will fuel untill 3000 and go no higher. dont know whats the cause of all this?

no rear speed sensor signal had it ever since some of my wireing melted

But i am 100% sure i had the 1693 before that happened.

i have been thinking about that code it has to be with the chip cause it came back on right away but truck runs fine

i havent ever heard of it being what you stated in your thread. It always comes up as companion code.

my other truck threw it one time, and i never could erase it till i went to the stealership and they pulled it and there was a code behind it that said engine coolant temp too hot too long! But my 02' never has thrown it!

I've had a 1693 code for the last 7 years ever since I plugged my first comp in. Never had a problem with the motor breaking up on the upper rpm's though.

Ok so that sorta confirms that this code dont mean chit. But does anyone have a clue what is causing the break-up at high rpm's? I pulled saturday and it didnt break-up as bad, but i was on and off the throttle the whole time just trying to get traction.

Normally the companion code means that there is another code either in the PCM or ECM . A good scanner will tell you where it's at.

The breakup in high RPM more often that not is the VP either running out of fuel or it's starting to loose the timing signal in the pump.

Milky if I had a clue I'd help ya out buddy but electronics baffle me. Did you do valve springs? i can't remember. if you didnt then it could be valve float that sounds like it breaking up.

I had no traction problems and I only pulled 2 trucks after you...I was able to keep it floored the whole way. Those tires rock man.

Great pull Tj! I chose the wrong side of the track, im trying to get the tires ordered monday. And i have tried to figure this out. i have springs and my lift pump is a 150 gph so it should'nt be running out of fuel.

P.S.- My redline was set at 3,700 rpm, and only 15% fuel. Oops:bang. Have you heard anything on that last puller? Is he ok?

I hate when my redline resets itself...does it when i turn the key on and start the truck too fast without letting it cycle through the test first.

yea he is ok, just precautionary measures because he has plates in his neck from a previous accident.

they started tearing the truck down today. frames bent bad, springs perches and rear axle alignment is fubar'd, broken motor mount also i heard.
