I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to turbos so I'm lookin for a little help. I'm going to upgrade in the next few weeks just tryin to figure out which one to buy... Cost is obviously an issue with the damn $5 diesel!

Anyway I would like to break into the 500hp club. I run a few sled pulls a year (like less than 6), a few runs down an 1/8th mile track up the road, but mostly just driving around is what I do with it... Usually empty, pull a few small trailers a year, but no big towing to speak of.

I've been looking at an II SPS62....

But then found some good prices on super B's...

The claim is that a BD super B is a 450hp turbo. Is that correct? Could it be pushed to 500 with enough fuel, or will it simply not pump enough air? Is it a 450hp turbo running hot or is that running around 1300* on the pyro?

My lil HY with the blocked waste gate see's 38lbs and heats me up to over 1600 with just the drag comp now, so obviously I need to upgrade the turbo before I add anymore fuel....

Thanks!

i know a little white dodge that did 870hp on a super b special with a little giggle juice.

The II SPS 62 is awesome. I would give a 64 a try though. With fueling upgrades that 62 lights as quick as a 35 does. I always like to have a little room for more fuel if i decide to. Then dont have to change chargers again!

How much diff is there between the special and the regular super b?

What's it make on #2 only?

When I called II they recommended against the 64 on a 24v....

I like my special and its a daily driver and from what i know its rated at 575hp and i made 650hp on the dyno on #2 only

I don't think you can wring out any more power than that with a 64mm charger. The 24V helps, I only did 610ish on my Silver Bullet 66 pushing it hard with my 12v.

well eric brown was at like 650ish with is special and then did 870 with the spray.

and then almost doubled the HP with a teeny tiny shot of gas.
LOL

dont confuse the regular super B (57/65/12?) with the "special"(64/71/14?) not sure on the spec but two very different(hp) turbos.

That's the first time I've seen the specs on a Super B. Are those correct?

But I still have the question as to what a Super B (not a special) can truly support for HP on a 24v... Is 450 about the MAX it will support or will it run up closer to 500 with the right sticks, and running a little hot?

I think red stroke is just talking about hp levels on #2 only. Thats all I like to use.

i understand that. i will get the true numbers but i do know for sure he was over 650 on #2 with the special and then did the 870 with the gas.

Those are the specs I have been able to find and are still heresay but all I have to go one. I ran an HTBG with the same specs, and it was REAL toasty @ 425hp. Spool is good. the small wheel and housing are a definite limiter on the top end. If I could do it again on a DD I would just go 62/14 and be done with it.$.02
