A buddy of mine has a 06 or 07 chevy duramax and has just recently purchased a superchips programer, he has been running the tow mode and all has been fine. he decided to try the performance mode and got what he described to me as an EGR light? also when he plugged the superchips back in to read the code it said something along the lines of an EGR sytem fault. when he put it back to tow and cleared the fault it did not come back. but as soon as he puts it back to performance and gets out on the highway any little bit of fuel pedle the light will come back on. I am not to up to date on the duramax's, so thanks for your input.

Is the truck straigt piped with the converter out? i have heard strait piping the newer ones will throw a code for egr.

If it has a free flowing exhaust (straightpipe) it is more than likely throwing the code because of that. PPE make an egr code elimantor for this problem. Also it could be throwing the code for low rail pressure which is famous on the dmax which he needs to shim his fuel relief valve. See if you can get the exact code

also does he have an egr blocker plate installed and I think he needs a better programmer for it like efi live or ppe

yes he did put a magna flow kit on. he is not looking for all out power just something with a little this is the omly mod he will ever do im sure. but i have talked him into gauges. and he already had an intake. so if what im reading is right its because the cat is gone? and the superchips doesnt correct for it? why would it only do it on the higher setting? thanks for all the responses.
