i am a few days away from ordering a vb kit for my 98.5 and i was pretty set on using a dtt vb kit, but money is pretty tight, and i dont plan on using this trans for my big hp goals. basicly, id like to see this one hold a chip and thats about it, maybe a 400hp at best. so id like to put as little money as possible into this.

questions are,

do either the trans go or superior kits raise line press?

will it adjust my shift points up so im not in 3rd gear by 20mph?

how are the instructions (not my first vb, but i like good instructions)

thanks all, ive searched but cant really come up with a solid answer on any of the questions.

id really like to do a 5 or 6spd swap so i just need this to get me by, or if i dont, ill end up getting a full build nice trans.

I have the TFOD-HD2 from Transgo and it allowed me to raise the line pressure. As for instructions, it was my first VB and I made it through just fine. I didn't mess with my shift points so I'm not really sure on that one.

Transgo and youll be fine.will not do anything for shift points except make you feel it alot more.

well id really like to get them a little higher, the 1-2 2-3 shifts are so soon that im in 3 by the time i get thru a light, the dtt i did raised em up to a perfect setting. maybe ill call and just get shift springs from someone and get the trans go kit.

the tranny was rebuilt by the previous owner, and it shifts amazing, firm, but not too harsh, the converter is factory color, but id compare its driving to any of the big ones, at least as good as my old gorend single, but i cant see any indications its aftermarket. the reverse band just broke and thats why im going to do this while i drop it. i wanted to do a converter, but between short money, and how impressive this one is, im going to run the one thats in it till it slips, maybe by then ill have cash for a 5spd swap.

Honestly, and I know this is bad, I haven't checked pressures yet. Lots going on and it drives and holds great so checking actual pressures got put on the back burner.

My trans guy used a Trans go kit.
I had quick shifts as well, he changed the TV spring if I remember right. Now it holds first until at least 1600 RPM under light throttle.
I have the 48re, probably be the same though.

my trans is pretty new, so im not really worried about wore out valves. and for $80, that trans go kit is the way i think im guna go now. im certian that kit will do what i need. and i know first hand thats what all the big makers start with, and then add a few little things from that.
