Swap my injectors and DV's?

Hey guys. I have a set of new era 370's sitting in the shop. I have had them a while. I was thinking about pulling my 191 delivery valves out, sticking my 131 or 181's back in and putting the 370's in.

Anyone think it would be more or less driveable? Better or worse spool up? What about fuel mileage? My mileage is good right now. Id rather not blow my head gasket. I wont run the DV's and injectors until i get a tranny.

Also, would my EGT's be better, worse, or about the same?

Just thought about trying the swap just to mix things up a little.

Ive heard the smaller pumps like the bigger dvs. Put the 370s in and see if you like it before switching dvs.

Tell me about it.:kick:

My transmission keeps on ticking, so i just keep driving it how it is. It runs pretty good how it sits. Probably low 14's, so I just keep driving it. When my transmission craps and i have a built goerend in the thing, Id say the injectors will be in the next day:rockwoot: Then, we will see how long my head gasket lasts. I have studs sitting in a box too though, so that wont be too costly since i already have the expensive part here waiting.

It sucks being in college:bang 2 more semesters, and i should be done though. Once i get a real job, I may be able to afford to show the truck some love. For now though, its been pretty reliable, and treated me well, so im still driving the wheels off of it.

It will cost u nothing to try those sticks. I have done best with my 435's and 181's 25mpg.
Do it bro.

i thought dv's werent good for nuthin besides smoke n heat?

thats what a couple of my buddies have told me - have never ran any myself

and thats pretty much why - those guys have tried a lot of different stuff

25 mpg?

is that all you could get outta her?

lol

i have never gotten better than 16 or 17

dont know why

have tried everything

right now its got 4k springs in it, 181's ddp 4's custom zero minus plate and its set at 20.5° or 6.4mm

got 16 mpg last tank but i drove it pretty hard

ps - arnt those inj drilled on the wrong spray angle for your pistons?

i only ask cuz you mentioned that you are worried about the gasket

iirc you would have to really retard the timing to keep it inside the bowl

Wow, you may want to work on your grammar but delivery valves are useful in the smaller 160hp pumps iirc when running larger injectors. Also I believe that the New Era 370 are the correct spray pattern.

sorry you dont approve of the education this wonderful state gave me

sounds like you got the jist of it regardless

lazer cuts for everyone!

Actually 24.9 is my best/hi-way. my timing is only 16.5 due to my non o-ring head gasket. I'am using the turbomatt/garmon no fule plate and full travel afc. I can knock down 15-16mpg towing my travel trailer then lay down 12.80, and the cool part tow it all back home(less a case or 2 of beer).

I wouldnt go as far as to say that. For sled pulling, laser cuts are pretty hard to beat. For street driving, they arent my favorite.

My DV's added quite a bit of heat when i threw them in. Went from 1300* WOT to 1500* on the peg my 60mph and IDK where it goes from there.

But, that said, they added a nice extra kick to the truck. Well worth the money i have in them. Its also still as driveable as it was before. I have a tight converter though, so its hard to drive without at least a little haze.

My injectors are New Era 370's. They are the same as marine 370's, except they are modified for the correct spray pattern so that they run a lot better in out engines.

I get good mileage and it has proven to be reliable with the DV's, so i do really hate to mess with it for fear of tearing something up before i have the $$ to fix it.

More than anything id be interested in the WOT EGT difference in the injectors and DV's. I may still try it. Ill definately start a thread on it if i do.
