Heres the deal. Ive got a 95 ram 2500 w/ a 47rh trans. I want to swap and put a 47re trans in that is a dtt full billet which came out of a 96 ram 2500. The 96 is a dedicated puller and he switched to a 5 spd manual. I know the valve bodies cant be swapped because Ive been told that they wont bolt up. I think the only way to do it is to swap our pcms which would include swapping the harness as well, but am I getting in too deep trying to swap harnesses? Can this even be done? Or is there a better way to go about this that I havent thought of. Any input would be appreciated!:bang

I don't see why it can't be done, but I think it would be a waste of time. The RE transmissions are shorter so you would have to have the driveshafts extended and shortened as well as everything else you have listed.

Build the RH you have and save yourself a lot of headaches.

Yes, because there is no governor on the output shaft. That's the main difference between an RE and an RH transmission. REs had electronically controlled governors and the RHs were hydraulic.

I agree with you..

You CAN NOT put a RE tranny in a RH truck.
96 and up had electronic govenors and the 94 and 95's have mechanical governors.

I know this for sure because me and a buddy of mine tried this last weekend.

THe only way that it would work is if you swapped wiring harnesses and pcm's. SO... if you have a donor truck it would work. But you would have to switch everything.

x2 what you could do is steal the input/intermediate shafts and all the cluctches. and the TC. the only thing different is the valve body and output shaft/OD housing. if you got time and know-how you could pull it off.

Ok I have decided it is a waste of time to try to do this, but can I take the RE trans out of this 96 12v and drop it in my 99 ram 2500 with 24v. The manufacturing date is 5/99. Would it bolt right up or would I have to get a different vb.

IIRC you wont need a differant VB but you will have to change the selinoids (sp) from the 01 VB to the 96 VB.

The connectors changed around '98 IIRC, so you would need to change a few things but it will work.

So I can just swap the selinoids from my stock 99 RE vb into the 96 and it will bolt up and work correctly?

Yes, or just use the entire valve body out of the '99. IMHO I would be replacing the governor solenoid and pressure transducer rather than reusing old ones however...

Well I would swap the entire vb, except the only one I have is the stock one in my stock trans, and the 96 trans has the dtt vb in it. I suppose to save headaches the best thing to do would be to order a new valve body from dtt for a 99.
