Who has swapped out an early model year vp44 motor 2000 and earlier with a late model 01-02 motor and what all components did you have to swap?

I just swapped an 01 motor into a 99 due to a cracked block and I'm having an issue of the pickup not wanting to rev past 2000 rpm. I'm using the ecm and wiring harness off of the 01 motor. I have access to the pcm as well. Turns out this swap is more complicated than I anticipated.

My guess is it's missing a crank or cam signal. The 01 should have had a cam mounted position signal and the 99 would have had the crank mounted signal. IIRC, the map sensors are different as well. Did you swap PCM?

If you swap the engine assemblys, you will NEED ECP, PCM, entire engine harness, Power center. Some have needed gauge cluster & central timer module (If factory security is installed). ALL must come from the donor trucks, due to the VIN being in the ECM & PCM, at least.
Or, you can put your crank/cam into the new block & use your old harness/ECM/PCM
