ok i want to see if anyone else has had this problem, i have a 02 2500 4x4 5spd with a 241DLD t case, it started leaking last summer at the slpit line so i pulled it took it apart and put some rtv on the split line, that fixed my problem up till aout a week ago i see it is leaking again, so just wanting to know what the deal may be why it my be happening again, the truck is not drivin that much and no mud.

If you didn't use The Right Stuff® the rtv has most likely failed.

incorrect gasket sealant or bad prep job before the rtv was applied. also i would make sure all the bolts were torqued the same. if not you could of tweaked the case some. check the vent to make sure its not clogged and building pressure.

I have battled more than my share of leaking NV's, both DLD and DHD. The most common leak point is the rear of the slip yoke. The factory just presses a plug in there and the sealant either fails or they dont use any at all and what fluid travels down the splines of the tailshaft will then go out the yoke. The next most common thing to leak is not the rear output seal but the bushing inside the case will get worn (its softer than the slip yoke) and allow too much fluid past it and the seal cant hold it all back. You are going to want to put a new seal in when you do the bushing, and make sure you put some right stuff on the seal where it contacts the tail housing. The case halves will leak too but dont use too awful much sealant here because the excess will go to the bottom of the case and plug up the screen filter on the oil pump inlet and starve the case for oil. Not pushing parts places, but I get all mine from quad 4x4, good prices and fast shipping, plus you get to read the newspaper when it gets to your house lol
