Getting farther along at my 1939 dodge conversion and want to look into some tire/wheel options. Factory tire size would have been. 19.5x8 with a traction tire dually. Id like to look as factory as possible with this rig. Im uaing a 96 dodge 2500 chassis. I think a 19.5 radial will be too stiff for a truck that will weigh 4k lbs. So maybe something in a 20 inch dually wheel for more tire options. Factory 19.5x8 was probably close to a 34-35 inch tall tire not sure on that since this truck just had flat tires. Just want the tall skinny correct look with a modern radial. I could probably use a rim from 17-20 and still look pretty close to appearance.
Any ideas?

265-70-19.5 I have are 34.5 and are 14ply. They ride great because of the dodge front end. If you were keeping the leaf spring setup I would be worried. You could go down a size and get a 12ply (245)

If you had 16" wheels, you could run up to a 255/85R16 tire in LR E and probably ride softer than a 19.5 wheel/tire combo. They will dual without spacers as well.

Theres also a 255/80/17 available. Only makes are bfg mt and cooper st maxx. There are some 12ply 245/70/19.5's made. Are you going dually or single wheel?

I have a set of 16s id like to swap to a dually and im leafs in the rear for now might swap that down the road. Always heard the 19.5s ride so rough and this truck will be even lighter than a atock 12v truck.

How about some military Michelins. You can find 9.00-16s or 11-16s pretty easy. The latter is 35-36" tall IIRC.
