Anyone done this on a VP truck? I just did it on my 98 12v and it works great and thought about doing it on my 98 24v but thought I would check and see if you guys have done it and likes or dislikes.

what is the minimun speed you can lock it up at? i just put a triple disk in my truck and i think it locks up to soon. it locks up at like 20mph does that sound right?

If your reffering to the lockup switch I lock the one on my 12v in usually at
3rd around 30mph But I also got the tps mod which allows my shifts to go longer but that doesn't matter for a 24v.

Thanks, I wanted to hear that it works good on the 24v's. I'll be putting one on this weekend.

Love, couldn't live w/o it while I had the truck.

Is there cheaper way to make or whatever like the Boost Fooler (smoke switch)

correct me if i'm wrong but, the only purpose for the resistor is to keep from throwing a code. i've been running mine forever without the resistor. it does throw a code but it doesn't seem to work too great, maybe the resistor would help? i allways thought allot of this was in the valve body, since it takes more line pressure to keep it locked. i'm still wainting on my tranny guy to cut my valve body along with the rest of my tranny parts, but i'm running a billet tripple disk goerend convertor.

I can lock mine up at 8mph but I have a co-pilot. I think it depends on how you wire the switch.

it will lock up as soon as it hits 2nd gear if the switch is flipped unless you have a modified valve body which allows it to lock up in 1st. it should lock as soon as you hit the switch

on a tranny with a aftermarket valve body it is safe to lock it in second gear. i know some guys lock there trannys while building boos on the starting line. but on a stock trans i wouldnt lock it in any gear lower than 3rd, its too much pressure for the stocker.

depending on what you have for a converter. its not that its to much line pressure but its to much torque for a single disc converter to hold. some after market valve bodies start making line pressure where a stock valve body makes its most

a 47 re which is in a vp truck, the stock valve body wont lock up until 3rd. depending on how u have ur valve body set up u can lock in any gear.

I have one and was doing a burnout the other day and lightly got the tires spinning and hit the lock up and it got real nasty real quick. Now I need tires. Its not as effective to hit it at low speeds. I also haven't seen any better times at the track with mine.

any stock tranny can lock up in 2nd hear. 47res came out in 96 p pump trucks after the 47rh which ended in 95. either tranny can lock in 2nd gear with a lock up switch and stock tranny and stock valve body. if there is no lock up switch the tranny won't lock until 3rd (thats if overdrive is turned off). it won't lock until o/d without a lockup switch if o/d is on.

^^^^^what he said^^^^^
but i personally would not lock it in second on a stock tranny. it just doesnt sound healthy to me. just my .02
