So I seen some new MTR Kevlars last weekend and I am diggin the tread design on them. The center of the tread is more like a AT with lots of sipping while the outside parts is more MT with nice aggressive spacing on the paddles. Thinking it could be a good all round tire for all tracks but price tag is pretty heafty.

Tell me what ya think...

If it's anything like the last 2 sets of MTR's I had they'll last MAYBE 20k miles on a street driven diesel....

ive got MTR's on my dually puller and they do great. a few of them are getting worn and i thought about gettin some of these. but was wondering the samething.

I am looking for someting just not sure what to do yet. I just feel like my truck does not ever really hook up all the way, I just blow the hell out of the tires anymore.

On the aggressive thing, Cepeks are about as aggressive as you can get and seem to work well on mod trucks. So why can there be an aggressive dot tire that works?

If you notice the Cepecs the mods are running do not have that tall of a tread. They are only around 1/4" tall. This allows them to have excellent bite, but still stay on top of the ground so that they are not just digging ditches and slowing there selves down, or putting a bind on the drivetrain. If that wasn't the case you would probably see alot fo them with brand new Ditch Witch tires with 5" lugs digging 2 ft into the ground.

I was thinking about those tires last night too. Price isn't as desirable.
I think they would work good around me. The pulls seem to be on more loose tracks than not. Most guys run sts's now.
Used to see mtr's on a few trucks in the past. I remember some scheid trucks running them. Wondering why people went away from them? Too aggressive?

I will test them next year if someone is buying.:hehe:

They look nice, and I'm sure they work well, but probably not the best tire for pulling. I want to try a set of the Nitto trail grappler M/T's out. They look like a nice all around tire.

IMO they have too much void space (think of rubber meeting the road, I'm thinking more surface is better?) and not enough siping. You might be able to prove my thinking wrong though?

Not sure what to do for next year but I will need tires and it seems like the 33/12.50 STS's are just spinning wild. The back ones are getting pretty bald from 4th and 5th gear burnouts so that isnt helping. Thought about just staying sts's but jumping to 35's for some more track speed and more traction.

I run 5th lo range with 4:10's and have no issues with coming out of the hole spinning the tires at full speed and spins out no problem at the big end.

I run nothing but Coopers on my trucks....not a fan of the goodyear.. like the they say good for a year! ha

I am running 35" BFG A/T's now, but at the time its all I could afford. I loved my 33" Mickey Thompson ATZ's, but couldn't afford them in 35's. If money wasn't a problem I would have the ATZ's. A few of the 2wd gassers around here are trying the ATZ's and have had pretty good luck out of them.
