I was driving home today and my truck would miss a beat everyonce in a while then cruising at 60mph it just died and wouldn't restart right away. I pulled into a parking lot, checked all ECM, VP44, and ground connectors and it fired right up and drove home with it only hiccuping once.

Checked for codes and this is what I have

PCM 1682, 0622, 0743, 0122, 0500, 0753, 1765, 1694, 1693

ECM 1688, 0252, 0253, 0254, 1698, 1488, 1693

Do I have a loose pin in the ecm, a bad VP or just a bad ECM???

Give me your opinion.

Don't remember what codes mine through but mine did the same thing about a month ago and it is still sitting. It was getting harder to start leading up to that point. I was driving mine to work in the moring when it out of the blue missed like the timing jumped off all the sudden and i limped it into work and then on my luch break cleared all the codes with the smarty and drove it around for a few mins. and it seemed to be fine. After work it started fine and on my way home it didn't the same thing another time cleared the codes and drove a little further down the road and the last time it did it wouldn't fire. The one code i remember was a injection pump computer failure, so i am guessing that my vp died. Don't know that i help but or story's sound the similar, keep me posted. Was that a stock pump? Is that what u are going to put back on?

Im running a one year old Industrial Injection SO pump so I don't really feel like its the pump. it didn't throw the 0216 death code but the 252,253,254 codes are all injection pump codes, but with so many codes it seems like the ecm may be screwed? I just drove it 15miles and it didn't miss a beat.

Any other ideas how to diagnose the problem?

Was any of the codes supply voltage high, low or open, grounded circuit? if so one of the comps may have lost power or ground and caused so many codes at once. other than that all i can think of is bad ecm/pcm

Mine threw a bunch of codes like that. Bad ecm. I checked a lot of other things and that's what it ended up being.

Check all the grounds. They can cause problems like this for the second gen trucks. Doesn't sounds like an ecm failure and I have experienced that once.

with that many code i'd say it's a ECM......have a friend that had the same problem and it turned out to be a ECM

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'll pull the ecm tonight to check for loose pins and go through all the grounds and see what happens. Hopefully it stays running for me today :)
