You can be going down the road press the throttle, engine speed stays the same doesn't increase or decrease, hold it down for 10 seconds or so, then it will speed up. What kind of problem am I looking at here?
Thanks

I'll run out and do the turn key on 3 times trick and see what comes up. Do the dodges have a throttle position sensor like the fords?

Similar, but its mounted just above the VP on the drivers side of the engine. Has a black plastic cover over it from the factory.

Injection Pump Failure. Got dead pedal on Ole' Blackie and the VP was toasted.

Have a few codes that came up
P1693
P0500
P0216

P1693 means there is a code in the ECU
P0500 means you spun the rear tires at some point. The "BRAKE" light probably came on at the same time the code set
P0216 means the VP44 is dead. Timing control circuit malfunction is the code definition. There is no way to fix it yourself, you have to swap the injection pump for a reman unit. There are lots of threads on here about it, and at least one of them has links to a step by step video on how to replace it. If you're still not comfortable doing it, take it to a reputable local shop, or if you're close to one of our sponsors, let them do it.

VP more than likely. Try adjusting and resetting your apps and having the codes cleared. Might clear up the problem long enough to save up some cash. Or it might fix the problem. I've seen it help more than once.
