Ok so I am converting my auto to a stick.

Put it all together and the clutch wont disengage.

Brand new heavy duty hydraulics, pre filled, lots of clutch arm travel.

Is it possible I installed the throw out arm wrong, as in out by 180 degrees and it isnt levering correctly??

what is the correct orientation before i tear it all back apart?

thanks in advance

Pull the hydraulic slave cylinder off of the bellhousing and see if the arm has any play in and out. There should be a little travel between the throwout bearing and the fingers on the pressure plate. What clutch did you install?

If you pull the slave cylinder off of the bellhousing and look into the bellhousing you should be able to see indent that the slave pushes into on the lever. If you don't see the indent you have it installed backwards/180 out.

both ends have an indent, one for the ball one for the slave - they both looked the same. The only diffeence i could see is the arm was thicker at one end than the other, with a slight bend in the one end as compared to the other.
I installed it with the bend end to the slave thinking it needed the leverage?

It is a dual disk McLeod 3850 pound

everything was marked flywheel side with stickers, and installed that way so I would say not.

I do believe the P/N on the lever arm goes to the bottom. You should also remove the washer beneath the pivot ball in the bellhousing.

pulled it back apart
everything is installed as it should be.
still cant rotate the mainshaft with the clutch pedal to the floor.

Now truth be told, i have never worked with a dual disc pulling clutch before.

Keep in mind we havnt fired it up as yet as it is far from ready - we were just checking our work to see if it dissengaged properly. There are no shafts in it as yet so we were just trying to turn the mainshaft over by hand

Do these dual disc style clutches drag enough that you cant turn it over by hand from the yoke like we can with a normal single disc clutch???

I installed a new dd clutch from Valair and hydraulics from advance auto. I have problems getting 1st gear, 2nd gear, and reverse sitting still and the other shifts when moving aren't like they should be. I ended up getting an adjustable rod from the pedal to the master cylinder. The clutch isn't fully releasing. I haven't installed it yet as the truck is parked for the winter. I'm positive once installed and adjusted properly my issue will be gone.

What do you have for a clutch? The new Southbend dual disc clutches come with a modified fork and you remove the washer below the pivot ball.

the thickest part of the fork goes on the pivot ball, and or the side with the numbers. sounds like your not pushing it far enough or you have something hung up

I have a dual setup on the way from South Bend. Was not aware that it comes with the release arm.
