After researching changing my tierod ends on my 00 2500 4x4 I heard you could use a 98 year tierod and draglink. Anyone ever heard of this or done it.

Thanks

Any reason your wanting to go to with the older model tierod and drag?

P.S. Nice rock crawler

The way I understand it is when you are loaded the front of the truck comes up some. With the factory tierod as the front comes up it changes the toe. With the solid tierod this won't happen.

I've heard about it, but haven't done it. When I went to buy front end parts the only things listed at the parts store were the common ones that are for the inverted y type of setup.

I'm not sure if the parts are available aftermarket or not, but I've heard it called the "Heavy Duty" steering option available around '99-'00. If you find part numbers for aftermarket parts, post them up please.

Huh I have never herd of it before. Yea if you find out anything bout it post up.

98 and 99 had a HD option for the front. It has a tie rod from one knuckle to the other, then the drag link hooks in the tie rod. That way when the front goes up or down it does not pull one knuckle either way. The other fronts have a link going from the pitman to the passenger knuckle, then one from the middle of the drag link to the drivers knuckle. No true complete tie rod.

I would try dodge. I priced the whole setup for my 98 for moog crap from advanced and it was only like 20 bucks more from dodge, and i get about a 20% discount from both. Gotta get a parts guy willing to look it up though, unless you want the last 8 of my vin and it will get you the right parts.

I talked to a guy who has done the conversion. Looks like it belongs there. I still would like to have a ballpark figure on the cost. I am going to check a couple parts houses here. May not be worth to me, I probably won't put 6000 miles on my truck in a year.

I think everything was right a 330 from dodge, but that does not include the adjusting sleeves. They may be the same size sleeves on your current setup though I am not sure.
