stock pistons? whats the spray pattern like on the injectors? most sticks the limit is about 27* degrees before you are out of the bowl.
best bet is to set it, then check on a timing light and adjust accordingly. i run 27 on mine and it seems to work well, no fuel in the oil, not a ton of haze, and good power. but this all depends on the pump, mods, lines, etc.
