first time ive been back in about 2 years on here lol but my timing is already to the head BUT is there any advantage to skip a tooth and go more? :ft:

Your signature says nothing about upgraded (larger) injectors, so to answer your question ~ no (trial & error would tell the tale).

Further, you don't mention what you do with the truck. Any pulling as in work?

nope, stock non i/c sticks and well.....if there was sled pulling that i knew of in MT i would do it lol but a weekend driver and race track truck when i get my 01 finished up

M&H makes a shim that is supposed to give you more timing travel. You can have your pump set close to stock and still get the advance at full throttle like you had jumped a tooth. I sold my first gen before they were out, so I got to try one, but I've heard decent reviews. I think M&H has a web site, if not look up always workin over on C/F, or 1stgen.org
