So I have a timing cover, gear, and p7100 pump to do a swap on my 24 valve. I am wondering if I should go ahead with the swap or if I should just sell what I have and keep the VP. I use my truck as a DD and I tow every once in a while. I would love the fact of knowing I have the reliable mechanical power house under the hood. I'm not big into smoke and going fast, well at least not in my truck because I don't have the money to fix things, but I don't know if I should put the pump on or if i should sell what i have and buy a programmer....what do ya'll think?

Two options.

1. Sell the parts you got to me for ohh let's say 120 bucks.

OR

2. SWAP IT!!!!

Doing the swap is a horrible idea! You should sell me the parts for $200 and keep your VP.

^ I agree. If you were going for all out power, then I would say he** yeah go for the swap. But if you are just gonna drive it, then stay with a vp. Put a good lift pump on it like an AirDog and get a Edge Comp or an EZ. You will be happy.

Gotta disagree with the guys saying keep the Vp.... I don't like breakdowns, spend WAY to many nights driving in the middle of nowhere out west here. I swaped mine BECAUSE its a DD truck, I wanted to be able to count on it so I swaped it over. Just becasuse your making a hybrid does not mean you have to make it extreme.... I set mine up just the same as if it was a 12V DD.... This is a diesel performance site......that does not mean everyone who enjoys this board wants to have a 10s rig.... Lots do.... I don't. I tow heavy on a daily basis and need reliable trucks, and for ME that is/was enough reason to do the swap.

Lane for someone that P pump a 24 valve and use it for a DD and towing. what kind of mileage to get with it and how many horse do you think you have. I would also agree if you have the major parts you should go ahead and do the swap.

Same as any P-pumped truck. You set it up for what you want. All the same tricks apply. (Though 24v may need more timing) I have no idea what Hp it has. Never been around a truck that has been Dyno'd
