I noticed at my last sledpull the water temp gauge was buried and the truck was puking coolant on the track. I would like to bring it down but i dont want to back off the fuel. anyone ever try deleting the stock themostat and run it wide open? would that even make a difference? any other ideas?:what:

That is funky. I don't see how your water temps got that high that quick. Which Tstat do you have now? You spray water?

I was told in a cummins class that the water would bypass if the thermostat was removed. You probabley have a blown headgasket or cracked head.

I experienced the same thing last night at a pull. The thing with my truck though was I couldn't get it spooled and the heat wasn't getting out. I didn't notice the water temp till I stopped. I gave it a 197' effort with almost no boost. Pretty stupid of me and luckily the truck made it out alive. I also think the TQ took some damage from pulling in 4 high.

if you have an auto... TQ slipping maybe? Was your boost where it should be ? Just some thoughts.

The head and gasket are just fine. bypass what? (the thermostat) thats what i want if it will help to keep water temps down. I have a 6-spd and my boost is good. I have a Snow stage II kit for water only, but i was not permitted to run it at this pull. The truck is very over fueled but my recall on EGT's were only at 1680ish.

that is weird. my water temp stays half way cool but i am running over 1800 on my egt's

and that is within the first 75 foot. i would hate to see where i am at around 300 foot

I am having a hard time believing my PRYO cuz this thing smokes black the whole pass. Bad! It is the digital read out on the Redline box, and i just switched to the Blue Chip probe and removed the Edge one. Ill see if that makes a difference. IDK?:bang:what:

Could it be the water pump going out? When mine went out the water temps skyrocketed like that.

My truck usually gets up to about 225 after a run if its at full temp (195) before I hook, but my last pass, I was late about starting the truck up before my run, and it was aonly about 160 before the run, and about 190 after. My EGT's are about 1750 about 200ft out.
