Hey there all, I am a newbie to this diesel stuff, i am a convert from rock crawling and sold a rig i had to get a tow rig and I bought a 2001 Dodge 24v and got hooked on the power, thanks to DirtyBlonde(nat). but anyway I am looking at getting a smarty soon but I heard about this trick for a torque converter lockup switch. my question to you is this, would it be worthwhile for me do this for a little extra quickness? everything is stock except the straight pipe soon to be dual 5" stacks. what good will the lock up switch due if any? thanks in advance for the advice.

first off jack love the look of the truck. i would shy away from doing a lock up switch until you do a good single or triple disc torque converter.
but any way it will help with mileage and also transfer for power.

It'll help yes, but it will also help your tranny die an early death. Put it this way, one of the best (IMHO) diesel wrenchers I know will install a lock up switch for FREE! He says it's an almost guaranteed tranny rebuild every time LOL

tst has it on their website how to hook it up and everything just google tst products and they are in columbus indiana good luck
my stk trans lasted 2 yrs with a lockup switch all i used it for was for towing the horse trailer to keep it locked shifting from 3rd to 4th and to keep it locked once in 4th instead of lock unlock lock unlock
just be nice to it and use your head dont expect to go drag racing and it should work out fine

thanks for the input guys, my thought for it lately has been for mileage especially since i saw fuel at 3.99 today kinda sucks ALOT, but i dont mind killing my tranny since i have a warranty on it, but i bet installing that switch would void that warranty. so i guess ill just keep putting a little extra money away for the smarty. thanks again guys
