Torque specs AND sequence for ARP's

im just curious cause i did a set of studs for a customer and he also brought in some hypermax graphite head gaskets for me to install. i did everthing as instructions stated. its been a few months and he called saying that hes head gaskets blew again and that 5 of the studs were loose. which i cant see how cause if that was the case it wouldve blown the gasket when i started the engine. me personally i didnt really like the head gasket design and i told him that but he wouldnt run the mls.

The graphite gaskets have a limited life cycle. They will expand and shrink only a few times and then set. This is why Ford stopped using them and switched everything to MLS which was found to have something like a 10year life cycle.

i thought it was cause the graphite cant handle a lot of boost. i tried telling the customer to stick with the mls. to me theres nothing wrong with the gasket its the bolts that give.

Heat cycles. Even Ford Escort new gaskets are MLS. Graphite just don't cut it.

thats true even the mustang has mls. do you have any recommendations on installing the studs other then what the instructions state?

Just what I mentioned on the other thread about using the Ford anti sieze on the threads instead of the moly lube.
