a lot of people were impressed when I posted dyno video of my 350+rwhp 6.9 IDI, but doubted its abilities when it came to towing....

Just finished my trip last night and got a few videos loaded up.

I pulled every single pass, ever single grade, every single inch of road on I90 from Seattle to I25 junction at 70+mph in 5th with the exception of Lo Lo/Look out pass in Idaho.... I dropped down to 4th and 60mph, not because of power or heat because the windy roads got a little sketchy @ 70+

I made a similar trip last year in my flatbed which was a 220hp/430tq 6.9 with the 093 kit and many of those passes brought it to its knees... 3rd gear WOT only holding 45mph. Every penny I spent in this project was vindicated for me over the last 4 days......

On a side not, while I had no issues towing in the high elevation, the driveability and street manors off boost have taken a major hit.. my 63/68/.91 T4 is super laggy. I think compounds are in order now with some more fuel....

about 15,500lbs

6.9 IDI FTW!! My 1984 with a billion miles sure wasn't that fast though...lol.

That weighs 15,500? Or combined weight is 15,500?
Cause my 32'x10' enclosed weighs #6,500..

And ATP rocks :)

I can't even see gross being 15k, the truck would be like 10k LOL

I still say its the best looking ford I've ever seen though.

That thing does look mean. But just cause its a ford doesn't mean you have to add invisible weight to your load :hehe:

No invisible weight... it is a guestimate though. Last time I pulled this was my weight slip:

I had an engine hoist, an extra IDI, and 2 other passengers in the truck.

this is of the load in the picture, with no passengers or fuel in the tanks.... so 15,500 was probably a bit of a high estimate.... You know us ford guys though, always coming up with imaginary numbers!

Take note I also had some steel sheet in the bed, my BBQ, loaded tool box, welding bottles, floor jack....thats why I have the heavy rear axle weight in the second slip.

Truck is 6,500lbs dry.
