I would like to put a local sled pull on at my fair grounds, and I would like to find out what would be the ideal track would be.

Here at the local county truck pull, it is YEARS of compacted, decomposed manure. And a little dirty and clay.

i think you should take a convoy of end dumps to Louisville and steal the clay that they store for the NFMS

Just about anything works aslong as its not sandy or loose. Main thing about it is having a good smooth track that will not crumble up too bad, but you also want to avoid large clumps of dirt every where. Tracks with alot of large clumps make for a rough ride usually. Most around here like a good hard packed clay track that hooks up hard from the get go. You want to keep some moisture in the track at all times, but not too much to where its too slimy and slick on top. Usually after the sun goes down the tracks tend to get better as long as there isn't too much moisture in them. If there is too much moisture, the slicker the track will get as the night progresses. One of the best tracks I have been on last year was at our home town in Temple Hill, Ky. It was packed it good and had good moisture in it, but it had just a slight loose cast of dirt on top to keep everything smooth for the trucks on the track. My avatar pic is on that track.

Get some Georgia Red Clay, it will make them see what the trucks are made out of!

I agree with the red clay. It takes good power and traction to do well on a clay track. Also it is prob the most user friendly too as far as gettin it ready for a pull. It wont soak up water so if it rains a couple hours before a pull you can take off the top inch or so and your back to pulling. as far as the sh!t track goes im with dickshaker on the dairy cow sh!t . the corn in there makes for better traction lol:Cheer:

personally, i like to pull on astro turf. talk about some great traction. if it works for the football players, it works for me. my 2nd choice would be alpaca ****.
