I did a search and didnt find what I needed. So here is the low down on the situation. I smoked the tranny on my pickup and got a new one from dave! i was just wondering what the proper break in procedure would be?

drive for 500miles then change fluid and filter, then drive it like you stole it.

enough stop and go to take the "new" film off of the clutches.... There is a small amount of crap that wears off the new clutches and steels in the first few hundred miles. Tim Barber always said to daily drive 500mi. then drain all the fluid (including TQ converter) change the filter and you should have a good start on a long healthy trans life.

I got the tranny in today and man is it sweet!!! the shifts are firm and I actually have a bit of turbo lag that I didnt have before. The tranny has a pressure lock on it and that is different to drive with. once the boost gets over 10psi it will really take off. The wierd part about it is the pedal gets real soft, like it drops away from my foot, its crazy. But the tranny is great and the pickup pulls really hard. it was way worth it!

Another satisfied Automatic customer. Aren't you glad you don't own a stickshift now?

there are few mods that will put the smile on your face like that first hard ride with a built trans!

nah i like it the way it is, dave did a good job getting me setup. but will a looser converter make it have less turbo lag on the bottom end?
