I blew my tranny awhile back will thought I did ending up being a bad pressure sensor but got a rebuild anyway before I realized it was just a sensor. I put the suncoast extreme rebuild kit, ats flex plate, ats 5 star convertor, transgo shift kit and a derale cooler mounted under the bed. What is the normal operating temp of a 48re I've been told by the dealer its around 190-200 degrees seems kinda high to me and others on the forums so they are seeing nothing over 160-170 with the same derale cooler so where is it supposed to run? I can't even drive mine very much in the city cause it get hot around the 200-210 mark and it doesn't stop climbing then its starts acting funny and I have to let it cool off. What could be some causes of it getting that hot? Any help would be much appericated.

Did you do a thorough flush before installing the new trans? Have you cleaned the thermostat in the factory aux trans cooler? Do you still have the check ball in place? Are you still running the factory aux trans cooler and heat exchanger along with the derale cooler?

outside temps will affect it also but 180-200 is normal. Where is your sensor? Do you have a switch for the fan in the cab and a light to tell you it's on? An empty truck should stay pretty cool with the derale Mine doesn't come off the 140 mark untill I hit
traffic then 160 is about normal. If your hitting 220 + sensor location would be my guess!

I had a leak in the stock cooler that's why I put the derale cooler in. I have a magtec double deep pan on the trans so the temp sensor to my trans gause is right in the pan. And I have a switch in the cab that gets turned on when the truck gets started everytime cause I know it heats up quick.
