Ok a tranny out of a 2002 dodge 4x4 the 47 RE will fit in what other year models. And with what modifications???

It could be made to work on a 96-06. Depends on what do you consider modifications

For it to work in the early 47RE(96-99 or maybe 2000) you will need a different VB wiring harness/gov solenoid/pressure sensor. To work in 2003-2004 you will need to Tap the neutral safety switch hole to a larger thread(1" i think) and change the neutral safety switch arm on the VB and then for 2004+ you will need to change cases or rig up a bracket to hold the VB motor on the 2004.5+.
Those are the big ones, the VB has slightly different tweaks but should still work.

So like it sits it will only work on a 2001 and 2002???

Ok say i have a 96 auto 4x4 sitting in the yard. Could i just swap out the trannys and use the harness/gov solenoid/ pressure senson and swap them out. Put the full built tranny thats in my 2002 into the 96.

Heck i dont know i guess i should check on ATS webs sight it says 47re but i should check it out first.

96 should have a 47RH in it with pretty much no electronic controls. I think, and I do mean half remembered quasi sure think, that you can swap the VB's out from the RE to the RH and be good though.

47RH and 47RE VB aren't interchangeable. The 47RE has a gov solenoid, RH has a gov pump in the rear.

will do. Could i just use the hard parts out of the 47re in the 47rh case???? I guess iw would just be better to not mess with it or just spend the money on the 96 and build the tranny up. Might not be worth trying to mess with swapping them.

Some of the parts are interchangeable. The big difference is in the OD section, output shafts are different, the gov pump is back there in the OD.

sell the RE and buy an RH!!

Well do you know anyone that is willing to spend a big hunk of change for a built 47re???? I would never be able to make up for the $ i lost selling a perfectly fine and fresh 47re to build up a 47rh.

rh's are cheaper to build i believe! or just use your converter, and buy a valve body and some HD bands!!

inputs and intermediates are the same for both are they not?

The 1996-early 2003 will intechange, the temp sensor neeeds to be switched, they work on a dirfferent ohm rating for the temp. You will also want to change the governor pressure sensor and solenoid. The VB wiring harness should be changed too, the connectors are different at the sensor end. The 94-95 trannies are pretty interchangeable 47RH units.

Temp sensor is part of the govenor pressure sensor correct?
You can go clear up to early 2004. 2004.5 they put the motor on the throttle valve. 2006-2004.5 will work with a few parts changed on the VB, but the you can't put an earlier tranny case on a 2004.5+ because the case has mounts for the throttle valve motor.
