tranny question

My son bought my '10 f350 with the 6.4 and 5r110 tranny.. it is running a sct tuner with Erics tunes, dpf is gone, egr is blocked... what is happening is that sometimes when he punches it it just seems to miss 5th gear and just free revs... would this be a sticky solenoid? And if it is, how are are these to work on?

How long has it been tuned?

for about 40k miles. But not driven hard. All highway miles, Has about 70k miles on it, still has factory tires.
