Lately i've been manually shifting my truck because I find it much more fun to drive at part throttle more then anything no doubt because of my like for big singles. Also makes lighting the turbo from a roll much easier. Right now I pretty much only shift from 2nd up to 3rd but I have the in cab potentiometer set such that over drive doesn't come until 2200 rpms instead of 1600 or so.

I'm pretty sure there's not any problems with doing this but just want to make sure. I have noticed tranny temperatures hardly budge at all. Is this because of holding gears out longer is circulating the fluid through the trans faster and or not putting such a load on the converter?

Just curious, thanks.

i drove like that for almost 3 years on 100hp stixs and a smarty(tranny killer) on a stock trans. this was supposed impossible to do.

when my tranny was rebuilt it only had slight glazing on the clutches, everything else looked new.

i still do it occasionally.

So with a fully built Goerend trans I should be fine i'd think!

Any comment on tranny fluid temperature decrease?

Less torque through the torque convertor, which results in less heat.
