Trans Cooler Placement

I tried searching this but didn't come across quite what I was looking for. I want to go with a bigger cooler for obvious reasons, but I'm not sure that I want it in the stock location. Where are you guys that have changed the placement putting them? When I searched it, I didn't even see any talk of where other guys were putting them.


If I can find a good solid spot that provides enough airflow and protection for it I'm thinking I'm gonna rid the truck of AC so I can ditch the AC condenser also.

Did you ever find a good spot for the bigger cooler? Also what cooler are you going to use?
 
I just put in a bigger after market cooler on my truck when I swapped my tranny to an auto. I put one bigger one in the front where the stock ones usually are and I also ordered a BD auxiliary cooler that I'm mounting underneath the bed of my truck
 
I have the Derale Atomic Cooler. I mounted it under the drive side of the cab, outside the frame rail. I'll try to get pics.
 
I ve seen alot mounted under the bed. I would want it mounted low to catch all the air it could.

No sir. and I wont be lol its changed alot and right now the head is sitting with greg a zz fab gettin resurfaced and possibly o-ringed. And have a cam, pushrods, and springs on their way from hamilton, also a stainless diesel manifold, 7x.014 stick, wilson manifold, i have a htt 66 that i was running on there but it spools like a dog. might be going to a silver bullet and maybe some spray. lol
 
mine is under the cab with a fan...it is mounted sideways though and i'm not sure it gets enough airflow. i have been thinking of turning into the airflow better and adding a second cooler in front of it, to have two stacked with the fan pulling through them both.

I'll try to get a pic up this week.

no A/C? I guess it's a good thing that Dodge will be getting toted around behind my Ford next summer........ or maybe the Mack if I get real ambitious!
