I just found out that when my tranny was installed there was dextron III/mercron put in it, but it already had ATF+4 in the torque converter:banghead:, and one of the fittings on the heat exchanger is slowly leaking so I have been adding Mopar brand ATF +4 to it.

Do I need to flush it immediately?

If so will it be alright to drain the pan, change the filter, fill back with ATF +4, disconnect the return line, and start and fill.

The converter should have a drain on it, if you are unsure call whoever did the tranny work and check.

Why would you need to flush it, is ATF +4 not compatible with Mercron 3?

ATF + 4 can work in Dexron 3 applications. But it's not suppose to in reverse. I wouldn't drain nothing. Just get lubeguard ATF +4 modifier. Just pour a bottle in, and stop worrying about it. That's what most transmission shops do. They fill a Dodge up with Dexron and use the lubeguard modifier. Works great.

HTS recommended ATF +4. I know either one would work, but I did not know about them being mixed together.

Ok, I guess were not on the same page. Different breeds of ATF get mixed all the time without nothing bad happening.
