OK well i have be putting this off but i am looking to do some trans work becaues am going to put alot of money and time into the truck and looking to do some sled pulling in 08. So i have done some talk on other froums and never got what i wanted so i talk to gus from FBD and he liked the single disc dtt. I know that i need a t/c,v/b,and input shaft and output do i need a rebuild kit
So what i wanted to ask you was what do you think i need to do to my truck to pull sleds.
thanks:blahblah1: :pop:

Torque convertor selection depends on the charger your gonna run. If you are gonna run a big single, I don't think a single is the way to go. You need a loose convertor to get it lit, and then lock it up going down the track. THis is hard on a single, to ask it to absorb the 6-800 rpm difference as you lock it up.

You should think about a 5 disc if you use a loose converter to absorb the shock when the TCC locks.

it takes less line pressure to lock up a 3 disk or 5 disk than it does a single disk convertor
i was told that by dave goerend if you have questins about trans parts call him he told me he doesnt care if people call him with no intention of buying a trans as long as he can help them out he will

What turbo charger are you going to run. That is the first question. You want as tight of a convertor as you can get and still easily light the charger.

WHat are you going to do with your truck? Dedicated puller? Daily driver, hook once a month? Hook once a weekend? What classes are available? How much money to you have? :)

well am up in pa so in the summer and in the summer about ten or more times it is a daily driver but sill want to have alot of power and i dont want to spend to much money on it

Prostreet 66,possibly sled puller 66 to save some $$. Get a set of used extrude hone injectors(minimum 200HP), find a redline box, put an ugraded fuel supply pump. Put studs in the engine, or possibly just overtorque your stock ones. Get a 15 bladed stator triple disk, valve body, and input shaft from Dave Goerend. If you have the coin get the output shaft too. Make sure you have a DHD transfer case. Should upgrade to a D80 from your 70. If you can upgrade before you trash the x case and the d70 your expenses will be much lower than after you trash them. That is a general guideline. You could possibly need to at least get a rebuild kit for your tranny.

If the trans is coming out of the truck, and your gonna put shafts, VB, and TC in it you really should do MORE. The most money has been spent and anything left out will just cost you in performance when the tranny is tightened up.

I got some great ideas, but your gonna have to decide like the others said on where you are going with other mods. That converter can make or break the performance you are desiring.

Are you in the western part of PA?
