So i think i got a transmission problem. Lately i have been getting surges between the speed of 50-60mph. The surging is smooth if that makes sense . I can power thru those speeds and not feel it. But if i try to maintain a speed i start to get the surging. Just tonight iv been paying attention to when it exactly happens. It happens right about 50 when the tq locks up( i think) or shifts what ever one it is.
So i would like to see what you guys think could be the problem also how to fix it.

Is the tq locking up and unlocking? If so I've read somewhere it could be because of a loose battery connection causing it. Doesn't sound like it would work, but happened to me, although my tq locks up at 42 mph.

Does it shutter any? Do you have a way of putting a load on the truck. IF you can put a trailer behind it that will really bring it out. Also try locking it out of 4th (OD off) and see if it does the same thing in third. Watch closely to your speed and once the converter locks start feeding heavy.

I would say its the tq converter locking and unlocking also..

Well i didt have the truck in the shop for a good while. Maybe they did not tighten them all the way down.

No i don't have a trailer. Ill have to try the od off and see what happens.
Thanks yall.

Under a load really brings out the shutter. I know with mine you would think at times the trans is gonna come through the floor.

well if it is the tq locking and unlocking. Is there anything i can do to stop it?. If it is not the ground and power.

Ok so put foil around the wire that comes from the alt..Seems to fix the problem. Shall see once i drive it more.

Clean all the grounds, battery to body, batt to frame, and ecm to body, clean every ground you can find. It's a common problem and this will fix 99% of them. I fix about one a month at the shop. The other 1% is alternater noise that causes it.
