Trans. Upgrades

How much hp will the stock clutches in the allison hold? Looking to get around 550 to the rear wheels and was just wondering if just a convertor and valve body upgrade would be fine. The truck will not be sled pulling or on the strip, just a little street racing.

Valve body upgrade is not needed. You can go with a transgo kit, and convertor in the 6 speed. In the 5 speed you just put in a Sun Coast III.

The 6 speed is stronger than the 5 speed but I don't think it's that strong (but i could be wrong). I'd go with Suncoast stage 4 or 5.

Suncoast stage IV is a great option, i like it so far.

I have over 80k miles on my suncoast IV. Works great, never had one problem.

May as well go for the stage IV, there is only a couple hundred dollar difference between the III and IV.
