Well the 01 i bought a while ago is runnin tip top after i fixed everything. found a new issue though. the 4wd worked but the light did not so i started to investigate. what i found was the PO had taken the CAD unit off the front axel and put a hose clamp on the actuator shaft so the fork holds the locking colar in 4wd position. i want it fixed right. what i got is 4 colored vacuum lines by the TC that need to go to the switch but i do not know to what port on the switch they go. what color goes where so i can start diagnosing weather the CAD or the switch is bad?? basically need a complete 4x4 vacuum diagram as none of it is hooked up. i tried searching here and google and everywhere and did not find what im looking for.

You need someone with an account to All Data Pro. I've got a cousin that has one and man it sure comes in handy for small things like that.. I'm betting someone on here has one.

havent found anything yet. really all somone has to do is go look at their switch and tell me what color hoses go to what port. i put a vacuume pump on the actuator on the front axel and it is working properly. i just need to figure out how the switch is hooked up now.

Ah, ok. I misunderstood the orig question then. Your talking about the switch on top of the transfer case with the four vacuum lines going to it right?

ya. the PO had a hose clamp on the actuator shaft to hold the collar in 4x4 position and the vacuum lines going into the switch on top of the tc are all loose and not attatched to the rubber plug that goes onto the top of the switch. i dont know what one goes to what port

If it still had the original end on it then it really will only fit one way. There are 2 tabs sticking up between 2 of the posts on top of the switch and there are corresponding notches in the rubber end of the vacuum lines.

I'll look tomorrow and try to get a lay our for you now that I think I found what your talking about.

ya. i got the original end that goes to the top of the switch. the lines were just broken off of it. i saw how it only goes one way. i would appreciate that red.

Ok, I came up with this. Towards the driver side front is red. Toward the driver side back is green. Toward the passenger side back is black. And toward the passenger front is white...

Now the green has a splitter on it, one line goes to the plug that goes to the top of the T-case and the other goes to a port on the case. The port if right in front of the plug. The one I have labeled white I am unsure about. Either mine is chalky or something, I scratch at it and it seems to be white but thats the only one I am unsure about.

Here is something I did in paint real quick.

Ive had a ton of CAD issues and ended up going with a posilock kit. If the PO clamped that little fukker then there was probably a reason. I'll bet you 10 bucks if you "fix" it, that it goes all to hell up.

Just my two cents.

is that posilock kit just a cable that goes to the actuator on the front end?? i had trouble with my vaccum lines but i got them sorted out but i would really want to put something else on it that is more reliable.. where did you find it at??

Hey guys don't mean to hijack the thread but I've been having issues with my truck not staying locked in 4wd. Put a vac pump (electric external) to try and find a broke line, found nothing.... 4x4 light comes on stays on, but won't stay locked in.... Any help is greatly appriciated!

Edit.... It locks in about 2k rpm while driving, but unlocks if rpms arnt up.....

I built it. Google homemade posilock and you'll find a link to a jeep site. It's pretty easy. Prices went up on the cable.

thanks red. that helped a lot. ill get them on this wknd and see if the switch is bad or not.

If my memory serves me well, here is the vacum lay out.

White: Main vaccum supply. This will hook up on the fire wall junction block located between the engine and brake master cylinder (slightly higher than the brake master cylinder)

Green: splits and hooks into the transfer case. The other end is just a vent and doesn't plug into anything.

Black: This hose plugs into the driver side of the 4wd actuator on the front axel. This is the vaccum source that locks the 2pice axel together using the slide collar when you have the truck in 4wd

Red: This hose plugs into the passenger side of the 4wd actuator and keeps the slide collar from locking the 2 piece axel together when in 2wd.

I am having the same issue's with my truck not staying locked in 4wd, but the light goes on and off. I have to jerk the truck using the throttle to get it to lock back in but its only for just a few seconds. I believe I have a leak in the black vaccum line.

thanks kino. i have been realy under the weather and haven't worked on it any. your help is appreciated.
