Ok......I've posted about this before but don't think I ever got a response so ::flamesuiton::
My 99 had a good rebuild by a local reputable shop last summer by my friend the previous owner. The one and only thing that it does that I do not like it that it does not downshift until it pulls all the way down to 1400RPM's, but then it unlocks the TC too and that jumps rpm's all the way up to 2500-2700.
I have adjusted all the slack out of the trans cable in the APPS bracket. The trans shop says replace the cable altogether, and if that doesn't fix it then he can change a spring in the VB that will make it downshift sooner but doesn't think I will be happy with it. He wants me to purchase the cable(dealer only item) first and replace it and see if that solves my prob before he drops the VB out?
What do I do to get it to downshift sooner? Don't say hit the OD button when I start up a hill, I shouldn't have to if the trans was adjusted properly. Let me just say this thing is a blast to drive unloaded, it shifts fine but this one little detail drives me batty!:bang While hauling my puller all over the state of KY's hills through the summer!
Thoughts? Suggestions?
