Transmission Problems

I have a 1995 powerstroke with the e4od. when i put it in gear the rpms drop and damn near dies. it also does it when i try to stop. last time this happend to me i swapped transfer cases. Any chance its the same thing againor is my torque converter going out?

Could be a number of issues. Does it sound like its developed a fuel knock when it dies.
