Well, I finally got around to painting my twins piping and polishing the comp housing on my secondary and started the valve cover and intake horn. The turbo was alot more than I was expecting. It took me forever to get the cast marks and letering off but it turned out sorta ok I guess. I need to hit it some more but I just lost focus:Cheer:. I started the air horn and valve cover lettering but didnt make it too far on them. I still have alot to do but the under hood section will someday look as good as it runs:hehe:. Any tips to make this easier? I plan to do the primary too I guess I should have practiced on it first.

Looks good- what did you use? Buffing wheel?
Are those the tow twins?

Yeah they are the towing twins. I used sand paper 120g,320g,1000g then rubbing compound then aluminum polish. It definetley looks alot better in the pics than in person lol. I still have work to do but the really hard part is over. I bought a little set of sanding pads from wal-mart that chuck's up in the drill that really helped but couldnt get in the tight spots.

Yeah it is a pain- I did a VW VR6 manifold, lucky for me I was able to use a DA sander.

The only problem is that if you dont keep up with it, it hazes over pretty quickly. My Turbonetics was polished and looked nice but since it is hard to get to it in the F350 I let it be:bang

Yeah that's the big reason I didnt pull the cover off the primary and do it yet. I have some fancy rattle can clearcoat but I dont know how it would hold up.

Get a Dremmel tool and the buffing attachements for the tight stuff, works great. Oh, watch the RPM or it will burn the buffing compound.

I defintely plan on investing in a dremel. I put the rubbing compound on by hand and the polish on with a mothers power ball.

Tell us what you think of the towing twins if you haven't posted about them in another thread (too lazy to use the search feature) :p

They are great, I love them. The only thing I wish is I would have gotten the R700's instead.

Zoops makes a sealer for polished aluminum thats supposed to last a few years i think, before you have to polish and re-seal. Looks good!:Cheer:

Thanks, I'll definetley look into that. I'm also thinking about smoothing out the valve cover and polishing the whole thing. I cant remember seeing that on a 24v.

Looks good.

F.Y.I.-clear wont stick to polished aluminum. Surface needs to be scuffed, that kills the polished look.

 i suppose I'll just have to clean alot. At least the turbo is in a easy spot.

LOL I need to start working out my polishing fingers if I'm ever gonna do one again. I'll tell you aluminum is sure soft but man those letters are alot taller than they look. Luckily the alchohol numbed the pain until this morning lol. I dont think my fingers have ever been this sore.

How many hours you have in the compressor housing Pete? I'm gonna be doing mine after my paint work is done. I plan on doing a custom painted intake horn & valvecover to match the truck.

Start to finish about 4 1/2 hours, but that is fetching beer and everything. It's definetley not even clos enough to finished yet but it looks good from the edge of the hood. I am polishing the intake as well but didnt have gaskets and mine was stuck to the air horn and didnt wanna booger it up. I was gonna paint the valve cover to match and polish all the letters but polished looks so good I may smooth out the entire cover and polish it too.

That time also includes painting the intake pipe for the turbos too, and lots of beer runs lol.

Thats not bad, I have a dremel & a DA.....I like my fingers.:hehe: That does look pretty sweet! I can't remember where I saw the pic, but someone posted a pic of a smoothed out polished valve cover. It looked pretty good, but I prefer painted myself.....less polishing too.

I would have traded body parts for a dremmel this time last night lol. I have never seen a completley smoothe polished 24v cover that's why I wanna try it. I witt probly end up painting it and polishing the leters though.
