I was goin down the road and it started to sputter then you try to press the go pedal and nothing, then it just cut off. It will not crank. It is getting fuel, battery is good, no blown fuses. It did give me 2 codes, P1693 and P1689. Do you think the injection pump is gone? What do you guys think? thanks ahead of time. I'm leaving for the beach today and won't be back till next saturday, but all info is greatly appreciated!

Check codes, then erase. It should fire up after codes are gone. It does sound like a vp, but it could be anything from bad crank/cam sensor to bad APPS to bad ecm.

P1689 No communication between the ECM and injection pump module
P1693 A companion DTC was set in both the ECM and PCM
Start by first checking all the connections that you can for the VP.

Sounds like bad electronics atop the pump.

is there anyway to fix those electronics on the pump or will i have to get a new pump?

New pump time! The computer on it is calibrated with the pump, if you have that issue.

well it looks like im gonna have to replace the pump. I guess i'll go with the II Hot Rod pump.
