drivin the 2000 today and went into 3rd gear and kinda got on it but not near as hard as i have and it just died on me and code 1693 now comes up.... i really didn't even get into 3rd right as i was starting to accelerate it shut off??? it did this on my 01 a few weeks back and turned out to just be the map sensor came undone... but this one i've check fuses, relays, took the van aken off..... i loosen the return line on the VP and plenty of fuel coming out of it... but i crack the injection lines and i barely comes out at all..... is my vp shot or do u think somethin electrical? truck has 217,000

If you crack the injection lines and do not have high pressure fuel squirting out when you crank, you either don't have enough fuel pressure to the pump or you your injection pump died.

Try cracking the injection lines and cranking the truck, do this several times..... The VP is prone to a condition kinda like vapor lock, cracking the lines and cranking usually fixes it f this is the issue. If you don't get fuel I would almost be willing to be a dead VP.

Lift pump pressure can be zero and our trucks will continue to run (this is part of te reasons we have high VP failure rates, no cooling).

ya i just bough the truck last week and have ran it for bout 1000 miles runs VERY good and smooth..... i don't have guages yet but will soon... the lift pump should be good when its runnin and u have the top of the filter canister i flows over like crazy and tons of pressure come outta the return side of the VP
