Truck runs bad...

It has over 200k on it and probably needs a few things. It runs good for the most part, but will get really slow response on take offs after driving for a bit. Has no codes, a clean fuel filter and air filter.
Sometimes when I start it in the morning, it will surge slightly for about 10 seconds. Other than that, what can I do for a tune up or whatever?
Last mod I did was FASS and I went straight into the IP. Other than that and Edge Juice, it's stock.
I pull trailers and sometimes I stand on the pedal for 8-10 seconds before it finally takes off. When it does, it seems to make good power.
Any ideas? This is getting annoying.
 
Have you got a lockup switch?
Might be time for a converter , Valve body and rebuild....
Would have to know more about the truck to give a better diagnosis!

I don't have a lockup switch.
Once it kicks in, it goes through all the gears ok. You can feel it lock up in overdrive.
I push the pedal down and no rpms or anything for a good 8 seconds. Nothing responds. But when it does, it runs like it should.
BUT, the truck has always skipped a bit in 2nd when the tranny is cold maybe a hot TC is doing this.
Put the truck in neutral and it revs up fine...Start it up in the morning, it drives fine( other than the skipping in 2nd)
?
 
Check the voltage on the APPS (there's an article in the tech section), clean the MAP and IAT sensors, check the air filter, it also might be the VP getting weak but I'm betting APPS.
