On my 97 12v sometimes the truck will not start and in order to get it up and running I have to move the fuel shut off selenoid to the open position under the hood. I had had this problem a couple weeks ago so I ordered a new selenoid and relay. I replaced the realay and selenoid and the truck started up great for about a week and then started the same thing. At first it didnt start only sometimes and it would also try to start. But now I have to help the selenoid every time I fire the truck up. Once it is running it runs fine. Any suggestions? The truck is pretty much stock.

Thanks

Hmmmm, yeah my batteries are pretty strong I can't really think anything else. Could I maybe have the selenoid turned around backwards or something?

take the wires off of the battery terminal and put them on the power stud in the fuse box it keeps them from getting a bunch of corosion on them. Ive seen this happen more than once causing no start issues. Also make sure its not binding like rattlin said

I did this to my air dog an my fuel pressure holds a lot better and it sounds stronger cause of the better connection.

My solinoid arm was out of adjustment by just a hair, very small amount. In fact I hardly moved it. I too replaced the relay, but that didn't help.
This happened by just changing the fuel plate/AFC mods. The adjustment was that finiky.
Hope you solve the problem.

Jam not and rod end on the shaft. You'll have to take the bolts out then remove it from the lever. Loosen the nut and turn the rod end in or out to adjust.

If your standing on the drivers side of the truck and turn it to the right will shorten it and to the left will lengthen the rod. If your having problems with it starting i would turn it to the right to shorten it so that it pulls all the way up. Dont go too far or it wont shut the truck off.

Oh ok cool I will try that here within the next few days and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks for the help

I think mine is bad since it wont come up all the time. Might have a bad pull wire as when its up it stays up and runs fine. Try that and see if it fixes the problem if not you might check the wires and see if they are good since you already replaced the main parts.
