Truck wont start??

My '01 wont start. Turn the key and all the accessories, Airdog and guages come on but then turn to start and the starter wont spin. Does this sound like a bad starter or a relay or what??? I havent checked for codes yet, have to do that when I get back. Earlier in the week a few times when I turned the key the starter would just click and then after a while it would crank the motor. Now theres nothing.

Starter has probably taken a dump... Check the fuse under the hood too.

If the fuse under the hood is blown, check the trigger wire to make sure its not grounded out and touching some place. This don't sound like the case with what your symptoms were prior to no crank.

The batteries can be dead enough not to crank the engine, yet let the other stuff run.

Definately check the fuse under the hood. I had your symptoms with crappy starter contacts, then it just wouldn't start, and one starter later i realized it was the fuse.

Like everyone else has said, check all relays, fuses, connections, etc. If that doesn't solve the issue, most places like Discount Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O'Reilly's can test starters free of charge in hopes of selling you a part.

battery terminals can do this too! bad connection at batteries or cables are corroded.

I don't see if it is an auto or manual. I've fought this the other day on my neighbors truck (since I'm a diesel expert now...everyone calls me LOL). Check the clutch switch if it is a manual.
