Truckers, lets see your rigs!

Which c18 serial a guy would want to watch out for to find one to go into a truck? Or any will do?

All you really need is the crank so anything will work. The block/head is the same as a C15. With a C18 crank, cyl packs and injectors you can convert any C15 Acert into a C18. Only problem is the cranks are like $15,000 + core. I believe this one came out of an off road truck that burnt or was crashed.

They aren't worried about the difference in the stroke affecting the tuning?

I don't think it does. Same as you can load 1MM or C16 files in a C15. Or 3176 files in a 3406. It's going off the cam/crank sensors for timing.

Cool, Right on. We have C18s in all our 24M graders.

24m are waaay more fun to drive than 24h's, but waaay ****tier to work on. We've got about a dozen 24H and six 24Ms for haul road maintenance.

What's the difference between the M and the H? The biggest one I've ever been in is a 16M and it was a lot of fun Haha

The 24H are mechanical hydraulic. There's a steering wheel connected to an orbital valve and 10 levers for blade and ripper control. 5 on each side of the steering wheel. The linkages run down through the floor to the valvebanks. Engines are 3412.

The M are the new generation, electronic hydraulic, no steering wheel. No levers. Just 2 multi function joysticks. 900 horse C18.

Aaaah I see. The company I used to work for had a couple 14H graders that had all the levers, 3306 power too, Not bad units but the 14M they bought right before I quit was a dream to run once you figured out the control placement. For some reason I was thinking the 26H and M were the same new machine just with different features.

H and M are machine generations. And the 24 series is almost twice the size of a 16.

Here's our newest make work project. 777G transporter. Tier 4 emissions C32 complete with offroad PDF.

Good to know.

I was going to rig up a K19 for my own repower, but I think a tuned C18 in a C15 block would be much more fun.

I'm not sure I would go that far, I'd rather have a K block, those motors are proven.

2nd one in 12 years . had to pull the trigger.
