TST Mounting

Hey guys..

I have a TST in my 2nd gen. It's got a remote so I was wanting to hide the TST box since I don't need to see it.

Where have you guys put it? I can't figure a place to stuff it under the dash... not sure where else... need some ideas.

Thanks

I liked being able to see mine since the fueling light on it works better than the fueling light on the remote.

The new remote I got works fine with the lights. There was something wrong with the wiring or something on that remote.

The lights worked on that one but the fueling light on every TST remote I've been around isn't near as sensitive as the one on the box. It's usually either on or off.

I'm really not worried about the lights on the main box... I'm going to attach the remote to the guage pod in between the tach and speedo.. Should be a good place I think.

Guess I'll figure something tomorrow.

That's where I mounted the pulse monitor for my quad. If your truck is a manual then you could mount it where the shifter display for an auto would be.

The best mounting place for the TST remote I have seen is to use a a-pillar mount that Quadzilla has for its Commander unit. The TST remote fits in nicely and with a little double sided tape it stays in place.

I mounted the box to a custom bracket (mainly from scrap) and then to the bottom of the steering column. It's still accesible but out of the way.

I made another bracket to mount the remote where the dash vent on the far left side of the dash is. It involved cutting out a few of the slats in the vent but fits flush looks kinda like it belongs there.

I had a bracket made that slips over the edge of where the shifter for the transfer case resides that allows the box to slide in. It is out of the way, but still easily accessed. I can post pics if you are interested.

when i was running my tst i zip tied the main box under the dash......and the controle pod was just to the to the left of the ash tray.......befor i hid the box i had it setting on top of the dash to the right of my pillar gagues.....ill look in some old picts and see what i can find...

I got it sorted out today.

Under my dash is TIGHT since I have an auto start/car alarm under there, trailer brakes, wiring for guages, etc.

What I ended up doing was zip tying the main box to the steering column by where the brake pedal is. I just put some foam in between the box and the column and then several zip ties.

I put the remote on the clear part over the guages, between the tach and the speedo.

I took apart the remote to move the wire to the bottom. I also fixed the CRAP job TST did putting it together. The circuit board is held by a few small globs of cheap hot glue and they weren't holding anything. The down bottom was barely working.

Well I busted out the glue gun, pushed the circuit board down were it's supposed to be and glued it properly. Works 100x better!

All I had to do to get the remote to fit right where I put it was make a small notch on the dash trim to clear the wire.

I don't really need to look at the thing all the time, but it was the best place I could think of that is easy to reach, see, and wire.

Here's how I did it:

I can see most of the tach and speedo when sitting. The camera angle is just low.

I stuck the main box by the emergency brake lever (just under it) i had to drill a hole on each side and wire tie it in with some velcro on it to hold it in place. Then i ran the line up the inside the a pillar above the head liner all the way to the garage door opener.

Now all i have to to is just lean over and flip the switc and then open the little trap door to monitor the guages. I did have to take out the little center square for the over head door but you dont notice it unless your looking for it.
