Tune with jake brake?

I just got DJ's towing tune with the jake brake feature. It works really good in my opinion. My old man has a banks brake on his d-max and they feel almost the same. I haven't got to use it pulling yet though. Anyway, my question is.......... How does this work? What does the tune do that makes the truck slow down? Is is all in the transmission or in the motor? I'm just curious and would like to be able to explain to people what is going on. Thanks in advance.:Cheer:

Not sure how DJ does it, but here is what I know about VNT chargers:

If you close the vanes on the charger completely, it will retard exhaust flow hence act like a mini-Jake.

This can be done with the Dmax as well, but since the grade-braking feature works very well, there is really no need.

uses the VGT turbo...like McRat said, closes the vanes and retards the exhaust flow...
