I'm putting the 44s on and was wondering what people think of running for a turbo. Right now I have the BD super b special and I'm going to run that and see what I think. The truck has 3.55 gears and posi in rear but not front. I'm planning on running in low range because it will take to long to spool in high. I want quicker spool but to be able to shift threw the gears and not run out of power. All ideas are welcome.

That's alot of tire for 3.55s. I'd want a loose converter in that deal and keep the charger small. What's your plans? Mud bogg races, casual offroad, etc.?

yup 3.55 and 44 are not good
for 44 if it were me i would keep the turbo you got and run 456 gears you will be happier then a bigger turbo because with that big of tire and you gears your truck will be out of its power band before your going anywhere haha.
just my opion

I don't think I want to change the gears because I want all the wheel speed I can get. I had started to use the tires once by running 44s in rear and 39s in front out at a mud bog. It seemed not to have much of a problem for the little I ran it but I did not have engine compartment boxed in enough and killed the air filter. I ran in 2 wheel high range and yeah it would spin the tires into overdrive but truck was to heavy to run in 2wd. I just wonder how hard it is to spool turbo in low range compared to how hard it is in high range? The truck gets used for many things I have nothing specific it does mainly. Mud boggs, Mud drags, sand dunes, drag racing, off roading, and sometimes daily driving.

I use my truck for the exact same thing. I try to stay away from mud bogs because of cleaning. I ran twins for a while k31/hx80. I Honestly I think 4.10s are perfect but I probably have more power than you. I have 37s on the truck now but sometimes run around with 40" boggers . I have done hill climbs , drags, sand drags and have taken it on long trips. I am probably upping the tire size again when I put coilovers on the truck.

I'd love to see some videos of some cummins mud bog action sorry for the slight derail.

If you like your wheel speed i'm not sure why you'd want to consider running in low range. Are you not able to turn the tires in 4x4 like you can in 2x4?

In 4x4 high range it takes forever to spool the turbo and it will run out of power. I'm guessing it probably going to come down to getting some twins.

You must want a hell of a lot of wheel speed.. I seriously doubt the truck will do anything at all with 3.55's in. That will be a very boring truck.

Be smart and regear the truck, you will want at least 4:56 I would put in 4:88 myself. You would be able to turn the tires in high 4x4 then if you ran the low side it would go all the way to OD. Sound like to me your gonna waste money on a turbo when you could upgrade gears in drive train, Truck would performe better with new gears. Just my two cents.

3.55's in 4LO gives you a max speed of 63mph at 3500RPM in overdrive

4.88's in 4HI gives you a max speed of 125mph at 3500RPM in overdrive

dont be stupid, gear your truck

Now thats the info I need to know. How to figure out the gear ratio and wheel speed. Now are those numbers figured into the 44s and what would they be if not in overdrive?

I have never seen a dodge go in to OD while in 4L...
Swap axels with sombody with 4:10s cheap and easy I ran 40 " boggers with 4:10s and a 318 before I built my cummins truck with rockwells and tractor tires (56" tall) still ran that in 4L
