How would would a GT42 with a 80mm turbine wheel, 1.53 ex. hs, 76mm comp. wheel, and a 2.8" inlet work?

Manual trans, pulling only truck...

sounds like a typical 2.8 charger. Wont be a whole lot of fun as a DD, but will be a good pulling charger.

Sounds like an awfully big turbine housing. You able to spin 5000+?
I think there are better chargers out than that.

spins 5000 now, I would like to get about 5500 out of the automotive gov. I haven't had any luck talking with anyone about how to go about this. I would like to lighten up the flyweights but I really don't want to go screwing around with something that works.

I still think that is an awfully large turbine housing.

1.53 a/r? Thats pretty damn big, most people run around a .9-1 I would think

I have seen some 1.32 work well if you have the rpm and the larger turbine wheel it works pretty good.

I've got a 12.7 detroit charger on it now that is 1.32...last year was an auto, this year will be a manual...got a deal on this new charger. How does the turbine wheel size relate to the spool up or staying on top of the charger? I know the housing is big but how is the turbine wheel size?

Larger turbine wheel will spool slower. I would run the 1.32

You able to get it lit at the line with the 1.32 housing?

no, it was pretty bad, I was running a ford trans with a ford convertor with a 2600 or so sthal, needed a 3000 sthal, but once it did light...that thing would run like a scalded dog. I have a couple videos on youtube but they are pretty pathetic, thats why i'm going to the nv4500...

I run an auto and I struggle to get mine lit, and I run a smaller turbine wheel and housing.

that 76 twheel is dang small. With 5000 rpms I would look to a 87mm wheel. The dang off the shelf 400 thats 80/88 with a 1.32 housing works really well for that setup and spools pretty easy.

I think his compressor wheel is the 76. I haven't seen an 80/88 with the 1.32, most of the ones I had seen were 96 inducer wheels.

ok, I ditched the gt42...what about this detroit charger I have now...can it be made to flow more air...bigger/different comp wheel? Its a 171701 borg, I know they make a 171702 and it has a 2.95 inducer, is that better? Bush that down to a 2.8?

Ya but your truck sucks Dan!LOL You gonna hit some NADM events this year Dan?

I don't think it is my truck, probably just me!

We will see how the $$$ go. I would like to.

Waiting on the NADM pull in central or SW MO!
