Turbo to Shock Tower Clearance

I'm putting a HTB2 on 24v truck and the waste gate actuator is about 5/16" from the shock tower. (That is a 5/16" drill bit in the picture and it's snug)

Is this enough??

I'm thinking of modifying the bracket for the actuator so it fits better, but wanted to see if this is something anyone else has run into?

I called HTT and verified the turbo is correct for the application. The tech said they do sit fairly close, but he didn't remember it being that close.

Mine sits about that close. I too wondered when I sat it in there, but It doesn't hit.

I have an idea that won't take too much time so I'm gonna see about it tomorrow. I think I can get another 1/2" or so of clearance.
If anything it'll make removing the shock tower alot easier. I'd have to pull the turbo right to change that shock right now.

Won't matter at all. Motor does not move hardly at all to cause a problem.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the engine would move that much, though on other stuff I've worked on, I usually try to allow for at least 1/2" and even then sometimes it hits.

You do not need to remove the turbo to change the shocks either. We just did mine and it was no problem at all with it that close...Andy

I modified it today and I have about 1" of clearance now. Was just a matter of redrilling and cutting the mount so it would sit the actuator closer to the turbo. Then I cut the rod on the acuator a bit shorter, threaded it longer and that was it. Set it to 40psi and it's good to go.

Thanks for the help too.

Probably would have been fine, but it was easy for me to mod it while I had it apart.
