I have a 62/14 from high tech turbo. I'm pretty sure the wheel is a 62/65 can it be upgraded to a 62/71 or am I better off just getting another turbo. This turbo only has maybe 6,000 miles on it. Thanks
Mike

I'd say you're better off selling it and getting a new turbo.

justice4all I have close to the same set up as yours 06-- 3850dd, airdog150, floor-it stage 3, smarty, tst, mp8, arp studs, valve springs, from yours or any one else's experience whats next? Turbo or injectors? Like to sled pull some don't want to burn it up, which turbo, what injectors and the best place to get them.

I guess my question is will there be a big difference street driving and towing, between a 65 wheel and a 71 wheel? If its gonna make it more streetable I'm gonna have it changed before it goes on the truck.

I'm still not sure why you just wouldn't run the smaller 65 wheel with an external gate? You can have the quick spool of the 65 exducer turbine and vent any drive pressure you'll get by using the smaller wheel. I'd imagine even the 71 wheel will be subject to drive pressure when pouring the fuel on! Is there a difference in compressor sections between the two? I'm guessing not. The external gate option is cheaper then changing the turbine section atleast according to the price reported in this thread.

Sorry, must have been another thread where a memeber indicated there was a price of $800 to swap the turbine sections.

I think im gonna keep it the way it is. This turbo worked awesome on my first gen.
